What We Believe

We believe every young person possesses unique perspectives, skills, talents and tremendous promise to positively impact our communities. However, many of them are not able to realize and unleash their gifts to make an impact due structural inequities that limit their access to trauma-informed, non-judgemental, inclusive, youth-friendly, high-quality health care and support services.

toSurvive

Young people need The BIG 5 - housing, high quality primary and reproductive health care, health education and mental health services.

We provide both short and long term housing and youth-friendly, non-judgemental health care services.

Young people need College and Career Readiness Coaching services.

Our services focus on self awareness and self discovery as guides to career and training selection. We highlight skills for navigating training and work spaces. We assist our clients in pursuing careers aligned with who they are and help them to achieve and maintain economic self-sufficiency.

toThrive

Young people need Positive Youth Development Programming and Youth Lounges.

We know that every young person benefits from having a safe space to engage with their peers and gain social-emotional, economic literacy and other life skills. Here young people are welcome to take a pause, engage in our programming, and or enjoy a game or activity with a peer or staff person.

Our Values

The Bridge lives by and incorporates the following values into our care and support services:

BCY_Programs_Graphic_3-03.png
  • We prioritize uplifting youth voices and perspectives. We are committed to helping youth recognize and utilize the value of their unique voice, interests and perspectives. We believe young people are valuable and possess not only the solutions to their own challenges, but also numerous contributions to the challenges faced by many around the world.

  • We believe young people have the right to inform and guide the delivery of their care and support.

  • We encourage full autonomy, confidentiality and stand against coercion as we come alongside our clients to serve as a Bridge of support in identifying and achieving their goals through the services we provide.

  • We support our clients in healthy, whole, trauma-informed ways. This means we do not force young people to think one way or feel they are entitled to follow our recommendations or suggestions received during any of our services. We believe in providing young people information, guidance for considerations and potential outcomes when making their own decisions and safe spaces to process both.

  • Without our team member’s dedication and unwavering commitment to ensuring young people have access to the care and support we provide, we could not open our doors. Therefore, we honor and value every team member's wellness, personal development and growth. This is shown through our daily practices, leadership management style including annual reviews and investment into the lives and wellbeing of our staff.
